“I want my clients to have the utmost confidence in our product and our advice.”
That’s the philosophy behind Choice Abstract, the title insurance business David Gorenstein launched in 1994. A professional in the title insurance industry since 1983, David was mentored by one of the pioneers of the industry, and early on, learned the secret to winning and keeping, clients:
“Relationship. The relationship between a client and the title company they employ is invaluable.”
Building relationships is an element of David’s work. A native of Sheepshead Bay, David graduated from Brooklyn college with a degree in education. He worked for the NYC Board of Education for six years as a paraprofessional and a special ed teacher—touching the lives of teens in some of the roughest neighborhoods in Brooklyn. During this time, David was introduced to title insurance by a family friend, and leveraged the skills he applied as a teacher to building relationships with attorneys and insurance underwriters. By 1983, it was clear that he’d discovered his life’s work—in the title insurance industry.
In 1994, after working in title insurance for 11 years, David started his own company, Choice Abstract, with a mission to serve the New York real estate community by insuring his clients against defects in title and real property. With over 30 years’ experience in the industry, David has served in every facet of the business, from title examiner to title reader, clearance officer, and closer. David’s commitment to his clients drives him to stay current with new developments in the ever-changing landscape of the title insurance industry. With offices in Manhattan and Syosset, Choice Abstract has set itself apart as one of the premier title insurance agencies in the New York Metro area.
As a NYS-licensed title insurance producer, David has represented six different title insurance companies through the years. With Choice Abstract, he currently writes through three of the most dominant title insurers in the country—Commonwealth Land Title, Fidelity National Title, and Old Republic National Title. The decisions he makes as head of Choice Abstract bind the parent company to a title policy with the guarantee that theirs is a safe, secure title, for the lifetime of their insured’s ownership.
David prides himself on Choice Abstract’s ability to work with attorneys to creatively navigate the complexities of title issues. “We think outside the box. We’ll come up with a million different solutions and try to make one of them fit the issue.” From high-profile real estate transactions in Manhattan, to simple closings on a small plot of land in Long Island, David’s clients trust Choice Abstract to put their needs first.
“I want to sweep my clients off their feet with my service.”
